NHSI HEALTHCARE DATA MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
NHSI’ Data Management service enables organizations to better manage and
utilize their information in a HIPAA compliant manner. In today’s healthcare
environment, success lies in the reliability and manageability of data.
Efficiencies created by front-end applications for an information system are
directly related to the quality of data being accessed from the back-end.
Clean, standardized data produces successful outcomes at all levels of an
organization’s daily operations- health plan participants accessing network
providers; cost-effective claims processing; and quality business-to-business
transactions, as well as, business-to-consumer services. The long-term benefits
include dramatic cost-saving and considerable time efficiencies.
Data management is a significant challenge for organizations that have not made
sizeable financial investments in emerging technologies or in a staff to
maintain these systems. NHSI delivers the expertise and resources for full
service, outsourced data management that allows our clients to focus instead on
expanding their business opportunities. NHSI data management team has optimized
techniques for lightning fast operation, while yielding a high degree of
accuracy. NHSI will adhere to all current and future data standards including
HIPAA and other industry accepted methodologies.
Data Collection and Transformation
NHSI has the requisite experience, flexibility and security to accept and
deliver data of various formats via secure transmission methods. Client data is
reformatted from its unstructured or uniquely structured input to a standardized
format. During the transformation process, records are parsed in order to
isolate and identify individual data elements. These elements are assigned
meaning and placed in their appropriate field in order to begin data scrubbing.
(i.e. The transformation may separate the contact data "Smith, John" into a
first name field and a last name field.)
Data Scrubbing
Data scrubbing extends the transformation process by allowing missing or
incorrect data to be tagged for modification. Client’s data undergoes multiple,
logical routines unique to each record layout. These routines utilize fixed
alphanumeric orders; specific rule implementations; and pattern matching to
standardize data. Improving the uniformity of data to the level of individual
elements within each field, particularly for addresses, is important for
allocating geo-codes and duplicate record elimination. (i.e. The termination
date of "Jan. 07, 00" would be modified to a 01/07/2000 pattern.)
Geocoding
Each record receives a latitude/ longitude code assignment for its exact street
location once the address fields are uniform and the output is amended using
CASS Certified software. This software enables address information to be
validated against national and regional reference directories that can
frequently improve data through the introduction of missing or incorrect address
components.
Duplicate Elimination
The final procedure of our basic data management service involves the querying
of output from the prior processes to identify duplicate records. These records
are examined for distinction from one another, and the duplicate records
eliminated.
Secure Data Warehousing
NHSI has established a secure online channel and network infrastructure for the
transfer, management and storage of sensitive data. Utilizing only those trusted
and recognized brand technologies, NHSI incorporates multiple levels of the
industry’s most powerful network security available including firewall
protection, 128-bit SSL encryption technology, and Verisign Digital Security
Certificates.
